Draft · October 2026 · Beta

This is a draft for the beta and hasn’t been reviewed by a lawyer yet. It may change before a wider launch.

The short version

Your music is yours. Second Verse hosts it, shows it to the people you choose, and keeps track of who made what. Be decent to the people you make music with.

Using Second Verse

  • Second Verse is in beta: things will change, sometimes break, and features may come and go.
  • You need to be at least 13 to use it, and old enough where you live to agree to these terms.
  • Keep your account to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens on it.

What you make stays yours

  • You keep the rights to everything you add — lyrics, chords, notes, recordings and ideas.
  • You let Second Verse store it, copy it as needed to run the service, and show it to the people your song’s settings allow (only collaborators for private songs; anyone with the link for public songs, including on Explore and in search).
  • When you add something to someone else’s song, or build on their work, you let that song’s collaborators use it in that song, with your name on it. If the owner doesn’t use it, it stays yours and stays credited to you.
  • Credit isn’t a contract: who gets paid, how much, and who owns a finished song are for you and your collaborators to agree between yourselves.

Only add what you have the right to share

  • Don’t upload or paste anything you don’t have the rights to — other people’s recordings, lyrics or samples unless they’ve said yes.
  • No harassment, hate, spam, or anything illegal. Don’t try to break, overload or get around how Second Verse works.
  • If someone tells us something on Second Verse is theirs and shouldn’t be there, we may take it down while we look into it.

Ending things

  • You can stop using Second Verse and delete your account at any time, from your account page or by asking us.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. During the beta we may also pause or end the service — we’ll give as much notice as we can so you can save your work.

The legal part, in plain words

  • Second Verse is provided as it is, without promises that it will always work or never lose anything — keep your own copies of anything you can’t replace.
  • To the extent the law allows, Second Verse isn’t liable for indirect losses, or for what other people do with what you chose to share.
  • We’ll update these terms as the product grows and tell you about important changes. Using Second Verse after a change means you accept the new terms.
