How Second Verse works

Songs move forward when other people can build on them — without anyone losing their version or their name.

  1. 1

    Start a song

Give it a title. Add lyrics, chords or a note about what it needs. Recording arrives during the beta.

    • Private by default
    • Add details like genre, BPM and key whenever you like
    • Your own cover, or one made for the song
  2. 2

    Bring people in

Send an invite link to the people you make music with, or make the song public and post an open call: “Needs a second verse.”

    • Invite links you can turn off anytime
    • Open calls show up on Explore and in search
    • Anyone can comment on a line or a chord
  3. 3

    They build on it

Collaborators build their own version of any idea, or suggest a change to a single line. Your original never moves.

    • Every version links back to what it came from
    • Suggest edit for one line, without rewriting the whole thing
    • Their work stays theirs, with their name on it
  4. 4

    You choose

Compare versions side by side. Use this, or Keep yours. The song only changes when you say so.

    • Choices can be undone — earlier versions stay in history
    • People hear when their version gets used
    • Notifications on your phone, if you want them
  5. 5

    Everyone is credited

The song page shows who made it, and “How this song came together” tells the whole story, line by line.

    • Credits follow the work, automatically
    • Your profile shows everything you’ve been credited on
    • Pin your best songs to the top
